Vivek Lakshmanan

I am a software developer with wide ranging interests, but lately I have specialized in Storage Systems, Virtualization, Operating Systems, and Cloud Computing.

I was the first employee hired at GridCentric Inc., a startup developing a high-performance cloud computing platform that enables on-demand and instantaneous application scaling — Copper. I continue to work on challenging systems problems with some very bright people at this company.

I received an M.Sc. in Computer Science from University of Toronto in 2009 under the supervision of Prof. Angela Demke Brown and Prof. Ashvin Goel. I explored a variety of topics such as Storage Virtualization, File System Reliability, Operating System Instrumentation and Monitoring, Security, etc.

Before returning to Graduate School, I worked as a Software Engineer with Red Hat on the JBoss Application Server and JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) projects. I also interned with Red Hat as a student working on parts of the open source Java software stack.

In my spare time, I enjoy photography, reading, listening to music, and travelling. A snapshot of what I have been upto can be found below.
